CLERMONT, Fla. – On their final day at the Dot Richardson Spring Games in Florida, the Falcons dropped a pair of games to Cedarville, 3-1, and Grand Valley State, 6-0.
The two games concluded a run of 15 games in eight days for the Falcons (6-9).
In the opening game of the day against the Yellow Jackets from Cedarville (11-3), the Falcons were unable to recover from an early three run deficit and fell 3-1.
Cedarville opened the scoring in the top of the second and added two more runs in the top of the third. The Falcons had a chance to score in the bottom of the fourth after a
Kelsey Coleman single and
Rachelle Miller, but the Falcons would leave the pair stranded on base.
NDC pulled a run back in the bottom of the seventh courtesy of a
Jessica Cavallero double but they were unable draw level and Cedarville claimed a 3-1 victory.
In the second game of the day the Falcons faced the No.20 Lakers from Grand Valley State University. The Falcons hung with their ranked opponents until the fourth inning when GVSU would open the scoring to lead 1-0. The Lakers would extend their lead further with a four run fifth inning. The Falcons fought hard but an impressive shutout performance from Sara Andrasik led GVSU to a 6-0 win.
The twin-bill completes the Dot Richardson Spring Games for the Falcons, who will return home to South Euclid to take on Lewis University on Thursday March 20. The double header against the Flyers will be the opening home game for the Falcons on the new all-purpose Normandy Field.
