Two Narrow Losses & A Big Win For Falcon Softball On Day Three

CLERMONT, Fla. — On day three of the Dot Richardson Spring Games the Notre Dame College softball team went 1-2, defeating Quincy University 6-3 and dropping narrow 1-0 decisions to Saint Asnselm College and Walsh University.

The Falcons (4-4) started the day with a 9 a.m. game against the Hawks from Saint Anselm (1-0). The game remained scoreless throughout the first seven innings, before Saint Anselm scored the winning run in the top of the eighth. Mackenzie Wallace and Ashley Hall pitched four innings each for the Falcons with Wallace giving up just three hits and keeping the Hawk scoreless. Hall (3-1) limited the Hawks to just four hits and had seven strikeouts.

In the second game of the day the Falcon hitters lit up the scoreboard with 13 hits and six runs to defeat the Quincy Hawks 6-3. The Falcons got all six of their runs in a huge second innings, in all five falcon batters singled and Kelsey Coleman had a double. Quincy would pull two runs back in the third and one more in the fourth, but the damage had been done andAshley Hall would close out the game for the Falcons to record her fourth win of the season.

The Falcons would suffer their second one run loss of the day in their final game, falling 1-0 to the Walsh Cavaliers (6-2). Walsh opened the game with unearned run in the top of the first and that would be enough to claim the victory as the Falcons were limited to just two hits.

The Falcons are in action again tomorrow, March 4.  They will face Georgian Court at 11 a.m. and Gannon University at 1 p.m.
