URBANA, Ohio - The Notre Dame College softball team dropped two games at Urbana in Mountain East Conference play on Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons (9-14, 3-3 MEC) dropped the first game 8–3 and fell 4-0 in the second against the Blue Knights (14-4, 6-0 MEC).
The Blue Knights jumped out to an early 8-0 in the first game, scoring four runs in the first and third innings. The Falcons would respond in the fifth inning, when
Kelsey Coleman hit her third home run of the season to pull the Falcons back to 8-3. The Blue Knights would remain hitless throughout the final four innings but would claim an 8-3 victory.
The Blue Knights would continue their solid pitching in the second game, limiting the Falcons to three hits. On the mound for the Falcons,
Mackenzie Wallace produced a solid performance limiting Urbana to seven hits. The Blue Knights took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. The Falcons had a chance to tie things up in the fifth with
Kelsey Coleman and
Rachelle Miller both getting singles, but were unable to bring them home. Urbana would add three runs in the bottom of the fifth to claim a 4-0 victory.
The Falcons have an immediate opportunity to bounce back with a double headers against Ashland University on Thursday afternoon, first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
