CLERMONT, Fla. — On day two of the Dot Richardson Spring Games the Notre Dame College softball team went 1-1, recording a 3-2 victory over Post University to start the day and falling 2-0 to Florida Tech in the afternoon.
The Falcons (3-2) had to use extra innings in the first game of the day against Post University (1-1) to claim the 3-2 victory.
Mackenzie Wallace started the game for the Falcons and allowed just one hit in her four innings. Post would take the lead in the top of the fourth on an unearned run, before the Falcons scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to claim a 2-1 lead.
Post walked
Susan Lessman, before
Christine Camp singled to center field. A
Kelsey Coleman single brought Lessman home and then
Rachelle Miller single brought Camp home to give the Falcons a lead.
Post would tie the game in the top of the sixth to force extra innings. It wouldn't take long for the Falcons to claim the victory though as
Jessica Cavallero scored thanks to a bunt from
Maria Vanadia and
Nataly Ciocca forcing an error.
Ashley Hall (3-0) got the win of the Falcons as she went four innings without allowing a hit and recording six strikeouts.
In the second game of the day the Falcons were shutout by Florida Tech (14-6), who claimed a 2-0 victory.
NDC limited the Panthers to just five hits but were unable to stop them from scoring once in the opening inning and once in the fifth. The Falcons had four hits, including two from
Christine Camp, who has started the season hitting .467 over the first five games.
The Falcons are in action again tomorrow, March 3. They will face Saint Anslem at 9 a.m., Quincy University at 11 a.m. and Walsh University at 1 p.m.
