SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame College women's basketball got back to winning ways at Murphy Gymnasium with an 80-71 victory over the visiting Mountain Lions from Concord University on Saturday afternoon.
An
Alyssa Kraus three-pointer at the 17:21 mark gave the Falcons (10-7, 7-6 MEC) an early 7-2 lead over the Mountain Lions (9-9, 7-7 MEC). Concord drew level (13-13) with 10:13 remaining in the first half courtesy of two Jacqueline Kestner free-throws.
A
Danielle Ledrich three-pointer, her second of four on the day, gave the Falcons a 22-17 lead with 7:16 remaining in the first half. The Mountain Lions would close the gap by half-time with Falcons leading by just one (34-33) at the half.
NDC started the second half with a 7-0 run courtesy of
Courtney Clark and
Molly Ritz to claim a 41-33 lead with 18:17 remaining. The Falcons would maintain this lead throughout the second half and would claim their largest lead (75-63) with 2:13 remaining after two
Kelsey Miller free-throws. The Falcons would continue to hit their free-throws in the final two minutes to close out an 80-71 victory.
The Falcons were led by
Martha Nagbe who had 24 points and 7 rebounds, to record her sixth 20-point game of the season. Freshman
Kelsey Miller had 14 points and 10 rebounds to record her second double double of the season. Joining Nagbe and Miller in double digits was
Danielle Ledrich who went 4 from 6 from three-point range and scored 13 points.
The Mountain Lions were led by Andrea Bertrand and Sissy Wagner who had 19 and 18 points respectively.
Notre Dame College recorded a season-low 11 turnovers, including just one solitary turnover in the second half. The Falcons led the Mountain Lions in rebounds (41-30), field-goal percentage (45.8-41.8) and assists (18-9).
The Falcons will return to Murphy Gymnasium on Monday, February 3 to take on UVA-Wise at 5:30 p.m.
