Swimming and diving teams split with West Virginia Wesleyan

BUCKHANNON, W.Va -- Competing on the road against West Virginia Wesleyan University, the Notre Dame College swimming & diving teams split with the host Bobcats on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons men's team won by a score of 158-103 while the women's team fell to WVW, 161.5-92.5.

Men's Swimming & Diving 

In the 400 Medley Relay, NDC's quartet of Steve Roth, Conner Heslin, Jeffrey Saltzgaber and Hunter Bell earned first place with a time of 3:44.20, earning 11 points for the Falcons.

Roth continued to show impressive endurance as he won the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:07.43. Bell also finished first in the 50 Breastroke (28.36) as well as the 100 Breastroke (1:03.46). Heslin then took first place in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 55.03, good for nine points. Saltzgaber won the 100 Freestyle (50.55) and the 50 Butterfly (24.87).

NDC also had strong performances in the 1000 Freestyle, as Andrew Brandt took first place with a time of 10:43.10, picking up nine points for NDC. Meanwhile, Jude Haycraft took second place, earning four points with a time of 10:51.24.

Dylan Dykes took first in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 23.06, earning nine more points for NDC. The Falcons went on to beat the Bobcats by a score of 158-103.

The Falcons will compete next weekend at the Magnus Invitational hosted by Cleveland State University, spanning from Friday, Nov. 21 to Sunday, Nov. 23. 

Women's Swimming & Diving

Kelsi Turk started off the day with a first place finish in the 1000 Freestyle (11:08.18), earning nine points for NDC. Turk later finished first in the 400 IM as well, finishing with a time of 5:00.92. Meanwhile, Katie Wright won the 200 Freestyle, finishing with a time of 2:05.11. 

In the 50 Backstroke, Raquel Licea finished first with a time of 29.47, picking up nine more points for the Falcons. However, Licea wasn't done yet, as she also won the 50 Freestyle with a time of 25.85. 

The quartet of Easton Noel, Raquel Loustau, Wright and Licea combined for an impressive time of 3:51.12, narrowly winning the 400 Freestyle Relay by .62 seconds and earning 11 points for the Falcons.

However, NDC fell short to WVW, losing by a score of 161.5-92.5.

The Falcons will compete next weekend at the Magnus Invitational hosted by Cleveland State Universty, spanning from Friday, Nov. 21 to Sunday, Nov. 23.
