SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- The Notre Dame Falcons saw the mercy rule put into play twice at Campus Field on Tuesday afternoon, in a double header split with Tiffin, falling 9-1 in the opener, before taking the finale, 13-4.

The split for the Falcons (14-16) gives them six wins in nine tries at home, while the split for the Dragons (17-23) gives them losses in eight out of their last 11 games.

The Falcons could not muster any offense in the first game, but their bats woke up and went to work in game two.

Game One

The Falcons were limited to just one hit in the opening contest, while the Dragons went to work early on. Tiffin put four on the board in the top of the first, and added five more in the second.

NDC plated their lone run in the home half of the third.  Steph Glueck belted a double to the gap in left center field, which turned out to be NDC's only hit in the contest.  She made to way to third on Kelsey Coleman's groundout, and scored NDC's only run moments later on a wild pitch.

Ashley Harbarger (6-6) took the loss for the Falcons, after surrendering seven runs, four earned on five hits through 1.1 innings.  Tiffin's Kimberlee Hetrick (1-1) tossed five strong innings, holding NDC to just a run on a hit in a winning effort.

Game Two

The Falcons made up for their lack of offense in game two, by pounding out 13 runs on 12 hits.  The Dragons took an early advantage by scoring twice in the top of the first inning, but the Falcons answered with a five spot in the home half.

Rachelle Miller started the inning with a base hit, and made her way to second on Nicole Spuhler's sacrifice bunt.  Spuhler reached on an error on the play, and they both scored on Jessica Bequette's double down the left field line. Kayla Sidorski scored on that same play, thanks to another throwing error. Later in the inning, with runners at the corners and one out, Bequette scored on a throwing error, before Amanda Arendt drove in the final run of the inning on a base hit.

NDC added another in the bottom of the second when Bequette belted a run scoring single to plate Spuhler, and the Dragons put two more on the board in the top of the third.

The Falcons put the game away with an incredible seven run fourth inning, scoring six of those runs with two outs.  The inning started with Sidorski's solo homerun, her first of two hits in the inning.  With the bases loaded and two out, Lindsay Carmean smacked a triple down the right field line to plate three, and she scored on Miller's base hit.  Miller touched home plate a few moments later on Spuhler's three-bagger to right center, and Sidorski capped the big rally with an infield single to score Spuhler.

Mackenzie Wallace (4-4) earned the victory for the Falcons, tossing all five innings and allowed four runs, two earned on six hits while fanning two in the process.

Bequette went 3-for-4 in the contest with three runs batted in, while Miller, Sadorski and Carmean all came away with two hits apiece.

The Falcons are in action on Wednesday, April 24, when they play their travel to Edinboro, Pa., for their final roadie of the season against the Fighting Scots.  The first pitch in game one of the double header will be delivered at 3 p.m.
