KISSIMMEE, Fla. --
Ashley Harbarger and
Ashley Hall both tossed complete game shutouts on Tuesday afternoon, as the Falcons went 2-0 at the Rebel Spring Games, with wins over both Quincy and Holy Family.
The Falcons (4-4) have now won four out of their last five games, and have recorded a trio of shutout victories on the season. They took the first game against Quincy (Ill.), 2-0, and won the finale, 5-0 against Holy Family (Pa.).
Ashley Harbarger (1-1) turned in an outstanding performance in the opening contest, fanning a dozen batters while tossing NDC's second complete game shutout of the season, and allowed just four hits along the way.
The Falcons plated single runs in the third and the fifth.
Kelsey Coleman began a string of three straight singles in the home half of the third. Coleman's one out base hit was followed by singles from
Nicole Spuhler and
Jessica Cavallero to load the bases. Coleman scored moments later on a wild pitch to snap the scoreless tie.
NDC added another in the home half of the fifth inning. This time, they took advantage of a pair of singles, and two walks to plate the run. Cavallero reached on a one out infield single, and made her way to third on
Savannah Dukich's base hit to right field.
Christine Camp then walked to load the bases, before
Steph Glueck walked to score Cavallero.
The first six batters in the NDC order hit safely, including Cavallero who led the way with a pair of hits, going 2-for-3 in the contest.
The second game featured a combination of great pitching from
Ashley Hall, and an opportunistic NDC offense, that exploded in the fifth inning, scoring four times on four hits to open the flood gates.
Before the big fifth inning, NDC snapped a scoreless tie in the top of the fourth inning. Cavallero began the inning with a free pass, and made her way to second base after Dukich's groundout.
Megan Turner drove Cavallero home later in the fourth on a single to center field.
The fifth inning began with
Kayla Sidorski reaching on an error, before
Amanda Arendt was hit by a pitch to move Sidorski to second. Coleman followed with a base hit to left field, loading the bases for Spuhler. Spuhler delivered, with a big two-run single to right field. Two batters later, Dukich ripped a two-run base knock as well to cap the big inning.
Hall (1-1) tossed her first complete game shutout of the season, allowing just five hits while fanning eight over seven strong innings to score the victory for NDC.
Turner and Coleman paced NDC offensively, going 3-for-7 on the afternoon, while Coleman scored twice, Turner drove one in, and they both recorded extra base hits. Coleman has now hit safely in six consecutive games, and has reached in all eight games this season.
The Falcons are in action again at the Rebel Spring Games on Wednesday, March 6. They will face Rockhurst (Mo.) at 9 a.m., and Indianapolis at 11 a.m.
