SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame pulled off a season sweep of Urbana by beating the Blue Knights, 85-75, on Wednesday night.
The Falcons (10-13) got 20 points each from sophomore
Lawrence DeArmond and freshman
Tyree Gaiter in downing Urbana for the second time in as many meetings this season. With the victory, NDC has now won three of its last four games. The win at Murphy Gymnasium spelled Notre Dame's seventh win in its last eight home-court contests.
With the loss Urbana (10-17) has now dropped seven of its last eight, and the Blue Knights' road record this season now stands at 2-11.
Falcon shooters were dialed in on Wednesday, knocking down 7-of-11 3-point attempts. Overall NDC shot 47.5 percent (29-of-61) from the field, with DeArmond, Gaiter,
Eric Dummermuth (17 points), Cam Carlin (11), and
Jarvis Huntley (16) all posting double-digits in the scoring column.
The two sides evenly divvied up 24 points over the opening seven minutes of action. Both offenses started slowly, but the action picked up as the first half unfolded. In a mostly even back-and-forth exchange of baskets, Notre Dame gradually worked its way to a 31-27 lead by the 3:30-mark.
Lawrence DeArmond had a solid first period, going 5-of-7 from the floor en route to scoring 11 points in 15 minutes. DeArmond and the Falcons went into halftime with a 37-32 lead.

But NDC got a big 3-pointer from
Jarvis Huntley as part of a counterpunch that saw the Falcons rebuild their lead to 10 (65-55). Urbana got no closer than five the rest of the way.
DeArmond scored his 20 points on a 9-of-16 shooting performance. He has now tallied 42 points over NDC's last two games. Gaiter scored nine of his 20 points at the free-throw line.
Eric Dummermuth's 17 points were half of what amounted to his 10th double-double of the season. The 6-foot-6 power forward hauled down 14 rebounds.
Tyree Gaiter's 20-point night was complemented by six assists and three steals.

The Falcons, who came into the game as the 11th-highest scoring team in the nation, have averaged 89.8 points per game over their last 13 games.
“This was a good win for us tonight,” said NDC Head Coach Kevin Bille. “I like the way we closed out the game in the final 10 minutes.”
Notre Dame's next game is scheduled for Saturday when the Falcons host the Cedarville Yellow Jackets. Tip-off in the back half of a women's-men's doubleheader at Murphy Gymnasium is slated for 4 p.m.
