Honolulu, Hawaii — The Notre Dame College Women's Basketball team completed their trip to Hawaii for the Oahu Classic Tournament with a 62-51 win over Lake Superior State.
A strong defensive performance from the Falcons (6-2) in the first half held the Lakers to 20 points, a season low for the Falcons. The Falcons used a 9-2 run in the final 3 minutes of the half to claim a 30-20 half time lead. Lauren Langendefer led the Falcons in the first with 8 of her 10 points coming in the first half.
The Falcons continued their strong defensive performance in the second half, withstanding a strong fightback from the Lakers to secure a 62-51 victory.
The Falcons held a significant advantage in rebounds out-rebounding the Lakers 47-35, including a 20-12 advantage offensively. NDC produced one of their best performances from the free throw line this season shooting 73.1 percent.
The Falcons were led by
Erin Entinghe, who had a season high 21 points and also had 7 rebounds. Joining Entinghe in double digits were
Lauren Langenderfer and
Molly Ritz who each had 10 points.
The Lake Superior State Lakers are the only GLIAC foe that the Falcons will face this season in what was an in region match up.
With the win the Falcons move to 6-2 on the season.
The win completes the Falcons trip to Hawaii, they will now have a 14 day break over the festive period before returning to action at Murphy Gymnasium on Sat. 4 January against Shepherd University in a Mountain East Conference match up.
