Falcons shocked on the road

Notre Dame drops road tilt to Washington Adventist

Box Score
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Notre Dame Falcons saw their two game winning streak come to an end on Saturday evening, in a 91-75 loss to Washington Adventist.

The loss for the Falcons (6-11) snapped a two-game win streak, and was their eighth on the road this seasonwhile the victory for the Shock (8-13) was their fourth in a row, and their fifth in their last six games.

The Falcons fell victim to a Washington Adventist shooting barrage in the opening half, as the Shock shot 59.3-percent (16-for-27) from the floor, and opened up a 44-36 lead at the half.  Notre Dame also shot well in the opening half, hitting 48.0-percent (12) of their 25 first half shots.

Notre Dame was red hot to begin the contest, as they took an early 4-0 advantage, and found themselves ahead, 13-6, four minutes into the contest.  The Shock came back and tied the game at 15-15, just two minutes later, and then went on a 7-0 run, and  never looked back.

Notre Dame remained remarkably consistent in the second half, shooting 48.6-percent (17-for-35) from the floor, which included a 40.0-percent (4-for-10) clip from beyond the arc.  Despite shooting the ball wall, Notre Dame was not able to get past the Shock, who never trailed in the second half.

Notre Dame trailed by double digits for the first 10 minutes of the second stanza, before the Falcons narrowed the deficit to seven on a pair of occasions, but that was a close as NDC would get the rest of the way.

The Shock stayed hot from the field, shooting 52.0-percent (13-for-25) from the floor, and nailed 85.7-percent (18) of their 21 second half free throws.

Four Falcons scored in double figures.  Lawrence DeArmond led the way for NDC with 18 points, and eight rebounds.  Eric Dummermuth contributed with 13 points and six boards, while Jarvis Huntley added a dozen points to go along with three assists, and Raphi Tekie added 11.

The Falcons will be in action again on Wednesday, Jan. 30, when they hit the road and take on Urbana.  The contest is scheduled to tip at 7 p.m.
