Falcons win third straight at home

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- The Notre Dame Falcons won their third home game in a row, with a 91-86 victory over the Tiffin Dragons on Tuesday night.

The victory for the Falcons (6-10) marks their fourth in their last five games, and it extended their home win streak to three, while the loss for Tiffin (6-12) was its third in a row.

Notre Dame opened the game on a 15-3 run. Cameron Carlin led the hot start, with eight quick points. The senior guard knocked down his first three shots from the field. 

Carlin paced all Falcon scorers in the first-half with 14 points, including a 4-of-5 mark from beyond the arc. Notre Dame as a team shot 19-of-33 (57.6 percent) and hit seven 3-pointers on their way to a 48-32 lead at halftime. Head Coach Kevin Bille's squad played tough defense, holding Tiffin to a 12-of-34 mark (35.2-percent) shooting.  NDC's defense yielded ten points off of turnovers in the opening half of play.

Tiffin opened the second half on an 11-2 run and used hot-shooting to get within three points (72-69) with 6:03 remaining in the game. But, that was as close as the Dragons could get as Notre Dame pulled away to win their second game in a row.

NDC was led in the second-half by Tyree Gaiter. The freshman point guard scored 17 of his 25 points in the second-half. Gaiter added five assists and went 12-for-14 (85.7 percent) from the free-throw line.

For the second game in a row, the Falcons never trailed. NDC finished the game shooting 55.9 percent (33-of-59), while shooting 80.9-percent (17-for-21) from the charity stripe.
 
Eric Dummermuth also had a big day for Notre Dame with 18 points, shooting 62.4-percent (9-of-14). Jarvis Huntley had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Dragons were led by Joe Graessle, who led all scorers with 26 points. Eric Roby chipped in 18 points for Tiffin who have now dropped three in a row.
 
The Falcons will be in action again on Saturday Jan. 26, when they hit the road and take on Washington Adventist.  The contest is scheduled to tip at 6:30 p.m.
