Falcons soar in return to home hardwood

NDC downs Malone, 81-67

Box Score SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame snapped a two-game losing streak with a home-court win over Malone on Saturday afternoon.  (Box)

The Falcons (8-10) were a plus-14 in turnover margin en route to downing the Pioneers, 81-67.

Three NDC players (Alex Dackin, Danielle Ledrich, Martha Nagbe) registered double figures in the game, NDC's first at home since Dec. 28.  Nagbe added five assists and seven steals.

Malone (9-11) made six of its first nine attempts from the floor in opening up an early 13-8 lead.  The Falcons managed to pull even (15-15) by the midpoint of the opening stanza.

Solid defense fueled a 13-3 run for Notre Dame, with the Falcons forcing miscues and missed shots at one end of the floor and turning them into made baskets at the other end.  That stretch led to NDC opening up a 10-point lead (28-18) by the six-minute mark.  By halftime, Notre Dame had forced 19 turnovers and was leading, 43-27.  Alex Dackin scored nine first-half points to lead the Falcon attack.

NDC extended its lead to 26 (66-40) by the 11:38- mark.  MU then went on a 17-4 run to cut the Falcon advantage to 13.

But Notre Dame righted its game, however, with a number of key possessions inside the five-minute mark, and the Falcons held on for the victory.
