In addition to their victory over the Eagles, Notre Dame (2-10) dropped a 6-3 decision to No. 15 (NAIA Coaches' Poll) Bethel (Ind.) to start the day, and finished their trio of contests with a 5-4 victory against Spring Hill, who defeated the Falcons twice earlier in the week.
In their first game, Notre Dame spotted Bethel an early 3-0 lead, and they were down 5-0 after two and a half innings. #Candace Shofar# knocked in a pair of runs for NDC in that opening contest, but the Falcons were held to seven hits and weren't able to dig out of the early hole.
Notre Dame received a solid performance from #Christine Camp# both at the plate and on the mound against Reinhardt. Camp went the distance against the Eagles, allowing a trio of runs on five hits while going the distance in Notre Dame's first victory of the season. In addition, Camp allowed just one hit over the game's final four innings, and helped herself out by going 2-for-3 with a pair of base hits and knocked in two of NDC's four runs. #Kelli Lennox# drove in Notre Dame's other two runs on a third inning single to right field.
The Falcons capped their big day by defeating Spring Hill, a team that had defeated them twice earlier in the week. Notre Dame took advantage of a number of errors committed by the Badgers, and they were able to pull away late in the game to score the victory.
#Charisse Colston# belted her second triple of the day with one out in the second inning, and came home moments later after Camp hit a fly ball to center field that was dropped. #Christine Hutchison# roped a single back through the middle of the infield in the third inning to score Shofar, and Notre Dame plated a pair of runs in the fourth inning after #Mallory Harder# hit a ground ball to short that Holli Smith wasn't able to handle.
Notre Dame was deadlocked at 4-4 with the Badgers in the sixth inning with the top of their order coming up. Shofar reached with one out on another SHC error, and Harder followed by reaching on a fielder's choice, which induced another Badger error. This time, the error was on second baseman Jessica Edgar, as she wasn't able to handle a throw at second base, which allowed Shofar to score the eventual game winning run.
Camp (2-3) scored both victories for Notre Dame. She went the distance and allowed three runs on five hits in the second game of the day, and she came on in relief to get the win against SHC. Against the Eagles, Camp allowed a pair of runs on four hits over six innings of relief. She finished strong, allowing just one hit over the game's final three innings, and only allowed one runner to sneak into scoring position.
The Falcons will conclude both their participation in the University of Mobile Classic and their trip down south with a pair of games on Saturday. They are scheduled to take on St. Mary's (Ind.) at 8 AM, William Carey (Miss.) at 10 AM.
