Tough finish

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- In their final game of the season, the Notre Dame Falcons struggled offensively, and managed to make just 11 field goals on the night, as they fell to Cedarville Saturday evening, 66-49. (Box)

For the Falcons (11-19, 6-12), the loss marks their second in their last three games, dropping their record to 4-5 in AMC road games. For the Yellow Jackets (18-11, 13-5) victory gives them five in a row to end the season, and marks their eighth in their last nine games.

The Notre Dame offense was ice cold over the first portion of the first half, as they were held to just one field goal, and shot 6.6 percent (1-for-15) over the first 13 minutes of the game. The cold shooting performance caused the Falcons to fall into a 29-7 hole.

The Falcons were able to pick it up offensively, by going on a 12-0 run through the rest of the half, and found themselves behind, 29-19, halfway through. Over the last seven minutes of the half, Notre Dame caused five Cedarville turnovers, and limited the Yellow Jackets to just six shots.

#Eric Dummermuth# scored nine of NDC's points during their 12-0 run, and finished the opening stanza with 12 points. While Notre Dame shot just 16.0 percent (4-for-25) from the floor in the first half, they shot 84.6 percent (11-for-13) from the free throw line.

In the opening two minutes of the second half, Notre Dame pulled closed the gap by narrowing the deficit to eight (31-23) after #Curtis McClure# buried a pair of free throws, but then went cold again. The Falcons hit just six shots over the next 13 minutes, and Cedarville caught fire. The Yellow Jackets took advantage, and led by as many as 24 (59-35), and Notre Dame was never able to recover.

After being held to single digits in his last two games, Dummermuth led the Falcons in their season finale with 25 points, and went 3-for-4 from 3-point land. #Taylor Rieger# turned in nine points on the strength of a 7-for-8 (87.5 percent) performance from the free throw line, and in his final game as a Falcon, McClure scored nine points. Notre Dame shot a season low, 22.4 percent (11-for-49) from the floor, but shot 85.2 percent (23-for-27) from the charity stripe.
