Falcons open 2011 with win over Wilberforce

WILBERFORCE, Ohio – Notre Dame (13-4, 4-0 AMC) handed Wilberforce their 15th consecutive loss, 91-47 on Tuesday evening. The win moves the Falcons to a perfect 4-0 in conference play while the Bulldogs drop to 1-16, 0-4 AMC. (Box)

NDC dominated the hosts from the opening tip and marched into the locker room with a 38-23 lead at the break before winning 91-47.

Coach #Dick Deasy# had every available player get into the game, breaking his normal 12 player rotation as the offense exploded for 53 second half points. Senior center, #Yvette Hunter# followed up from a successful NDC Holiday Tournament, to lead the Falcons with 18 points. Senior forward #Kealy McNally# (14 points), sophomore guard, #Tracy Payne# (14 points), and freshman forward #Katie Stumphauzer# (10 points) all scored in double figures. For the Wellington, Ohio native, Stumphauzer scored a career high (10 points).

"We came out in the second half and executed and played very well as a team," NDC coach #Dick Deasy# said. "We hadn't been getting that, getting those easy baskets in transition made the difference for us tonight."

The Blue & White dished out 23 assists, led by sophomore forward, #Chelsea Andorka# and sophomore guard, #Lauren Macer# with four apiece. NDC dominated the glass, winning the rebounding battle 64-53. 

The win ensures the Falcons keep pace with league leaders, Daemen (N.Y.) and Cedarville as the three teams sit alone atop the AMC with identical 4-0 conference records.

The Falcons return home to Murphy Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 8, hosting AMC foe Malone (5-11, 1-2 AMC). Tip-off scheduled for 2 p.m.
