MENTOR, Ohio -- The Notre Dame Falcons won their second match in a row on Friday afternoon, as they ran right through Lake Erie, taking a 7-2 decision to get back to the .500 mark.
The Falcons (8-8, 0-4) have now won three out of their last four matches, giving them a record of 3-1 in April. The great start to April follows a tough stretch in March, where they compiled a record of 3-5.
The Falcons won every single match that was played. They surrendered a match via default in both doubles and singles competition. In doubles play, the tag team of #Jimmy Goodwin# and #Kyle Roche# secured the first win of the match, as they defeated Austin Opfer and Anthony Nagy 8-6. #Andy Sherman# teamed with #Geoff Becktell# in the second doubles match, and they handled their opponents very easily, taking the match 8-2.
Notre Dame then took five matches in singles play to seal the victory. Goodwin (9-7) defeated Opfer in two sets, 6-3, 7-5 to score Notre Dame's first singles victory. Goodwin is second on the team with nine victories.
#Jonathan Morris# continued his winning ways, taking the victory in the final match, defeating Nagy 6-1, 6-1, to improve to 10-6 on the season. Sherman, Becktell, and #Kyle Roche# all scored singles victories for the Falcons as well.
Notre Dame's next match will take place on Friday, April 23, against Northwestern Ohio. The match will take place at Ursuline College, in Pepper Pike, Ohio, and is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.
