ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Notre Dame Falcons were able to make an early 7-0 deficit disappear at the Cardinal Field House on Saturday afternoon, but were not able to neutralize the Cardinals' incredible offense in a 98-74 loss in the final round of the AMC/WHAC Challenge.
The loss for the Falcons (1-4), was their third second in a row, and their first loss against Concordia since the 2005 season. For the Cardinals (5-2), the victory was their third in their last four games, and their third in a row at home.
Notre Dame fell behind early, 7-0, but rallied to take a four point lead halfway through the first half, before the Cardinals shot the lights out the rest of the way. The Cardinals had a 50-38 lead at halftime, and shot 58.1 percent (18-for-31) from the floor in the second half, outscoring the Falcons 48-36 in the second stanza to secure the victory.
The Falcons had three players score in double figures. #Eric Dummermuth# led the way with 14 points, followed by #Phil Biggs# and #Rodney Mickens#, who each added 10. Dummermuth had 12 rebounds to go along with his 14 points, marking his third double-double of the season.
For the game, the Falcons were held to a 39.7 percent (27-for-68) clip from the floor. They hit on 31.6 percent (6-for-19) of their shots from beyond the arc, but improved at the foul line. Notre Dame shot 73.7 percent (14-for-19) from the charity stripe on the night, while hitting 10-of-11 from the stripe in the second half.
The Blue & White will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 23, when they welcome Westminster (Pa.) to Murphy Gymnasium for their home opener. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
