PEPPER PIKE, Ohio -- A day before coming home to host Ohio Dominican in a battle between the top two teams in the American Mideast Conference, Notre Dame extended their conference lead to two games with a sweep over eastside neighbor Ursuline. The Falcons earned the two victories by scores of 8-0 and 12-1.
With the pair of victories in nearby Pepper Pike, Ohio, Notre Dame (20-8, 13-1 AMC) has now won 11 straight games. The Falcons will bring that streak into their Saturday match-up with the Panthers of Ohio Dominican University, who are 9-1 in 10 AMC games.
Senior shortstop #Stephanie Tartaglione# went 6-for-7 over the two games against Ursuline (4-22, 2-8). #Mallory Harder# went 7-for-7 at the plate, as the Falcons exploded for 20 runs on 36 base hits. The Blue & White went 19-of-33 on the afternoon with runners in scoring position.
Senior right-hander #Tara Meyer# pitched a two-hit shutout in game one, fanning eight over the six-inning game. NDC earned run-rule victories in both ends of the doubleheader; game one went six innings and game two went five.
Notre Dame now turns their attention to Ohio Dominican. The Saturday (April 18) doubleheader between the Falcons and Panthers is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
