Falcons off to Nationals this weekend

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Fresh off their program-best second place finish at the East National Qualifying Group Tournament (Feb. 21), No. 7 Notre Dame will compete this weekend at the 52nd Annual NAIA National Championships, which are being held at the Abe Lemons Arena on the campus of Oklahoma City University.

The Falcons will be led by East Regional champions, freshman #Jeffrey Pelton# and sophomore #Thomas Straughn#.

 

Pelton, the No. 1-ranked wrestler at 149-pounds, will take his 27-1 record into his first trip to Nationals.  Pelton is currently on a 15-bout winning streak.

 

No. 2 Straughn won the 157-pound title at the East Qualifying Tournament, going 4-0 with two pins.  Straughn's record is now 28-3, which includes his current 12-bout winning streak.

 

Junior #Adam Koballa#, ranked No. 5 at 141-pounds, will return to Nationals following his third-place finish at Regionals.  Koballa is currently 25-5, and is the reigning National Runner-Up at 141.

 

Sophomore #Dante Rini# is another ranked wrestler competing in Oklahoma City.  Rini, ranked No. 8, arrives at Nationals fresh off his second-place finish at 125-pounds at Regionals.  Rini's record is currently 8-3.
