Sophomore forward #Eric Dummermuth# led NDC on the afternoon - he garnered 26 points and 10 boards to notch his third straight double-double.
MU-Hamilton also visited College Road as a participant in NDC's season-opening Tip-Off Classic; the Falcons ripped the Harriers, 105-49, on day one of that tournament on Nov. 13. With NDC's second blowout win of the season, the Blue & White have now started the season with six consecutive victories, tying last season's (2008-09) program-best start to a year at 6-0.
Notre Dame scored the first 20 points of the game in an eventual 58-14 first half. A high-pressure defense held the Harriers to a 25.9 percent (7-for-27) mark from the floor in the opening 20 minutes. Meanwhile, the Falcons shot lights in the first, hitting on 59.5 percent (22-for-37) of their shots.
Dummermuth scored 20 in the first, with five of his seven baskets coming on feeds from point guard #Nick McCartney#. McCartney finished the first half with six assists and 10 points. NDC was dominant on the boards, out-rebounding Hamilton, 29-8.
In the second half, NDC essentially maintained their lead throughout. The Falcons hit 13-of-24 (54.2 percent) from the field in the second and outscored the Harriers, 33-31.
For the game, Dummermuth scored his 26 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field; he was 6-of-6 from the foul line. The 6-foot-6 forward grabbed 10 rebounds in the game; sophomore forward #Phil Biggs# had a game-high 11. Over the 40-minute contest, Notre Dame out-rebounded Hamilton, 49-26.
Junior forward #Zach Jacobson# scored 14 points; McCartney finished with 10. The Harriers were led by Shawn Morgan and Nate Seymour, who each tallied 10 points.
"The guys played hard today," said #Kevin Bille#. "Our defense and rebounding continues to be solid, and in this game we just got off to a great start."
With their win over MU-Hamilton, Notre Dame is now 3-0 on College Road this season and 41-15 (.732) in their last 56 games at Murphy Gymnasium (2006-09).
Saturday's game against the Harriers marked the first of three straight home contests for the Falcons. For their next game, NDC will host their first AMC foe this season on Wednesday, Dec. 2, when the Malone Pioneers visit Murphy Gymnasium. Tip off in that game is slated for 7 PM. The Falcons will then host Adrian (Mich.) on Saturday, Dec. 5.
