Falcons dominate in season opener on College Road

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame opened their 2009-10 season with a dominant performance, hitting triple digits in a 105-49 win over Miami-Hamilton. (Box)

Newcomer #Curtis McClure#, a junior from Cleveland, tallied 20 points in his first game as a Falcon, and #Eric Dummermuth# poured in 26 points on 10-of-13 shooting, as NDC outran, outmuscled and out-shot the Harriers (0-4).

The Falcons (1-0) went on a 24-5 run midway through the opening half and took an eventual 52-20 lead into halftime. In the second, Falcon starters and a deep bench combined to shoot 63.6 percent (21-for-33), hit an array of outside shots from multiple sources and put on a passing clinic in front of 215 spectators at Murphy Gymnasium.

Eleven players got into the scoring column, and Head Coach #Kevin Bille#'s bench logged significant minutes in what was the program's 11th 100-point game. McClure scored his 20 in just 20 minutes of action. Dummermuth chipped in his 26 in just 21 minutes on the home hardwood on opening night.

For the game, Notre Dame shot 53.2 percent (42-for-79) and made 11 threes. The Falcons out-rebounded the Harriers by a wide margin, 53-28, with sophomore forward #Phil Biggs# garnering a game-high 10 boards. Sophomore guard #Nick McCartney# set the tone for the Falcons running a smooth offense. The second-year Falcon had seven assists against just one turnover. For the game, Notre Dame had 27 assists, their most in a game since NDC had 29 assists in a 115-52 drubbing of the same opponent nearly two years ago (Nov. 16, 2007).

The game was the first of two this weekend, as NDC is hosting a four-team invitational, the Tip-Off Classic. Notre Dame will face Rochester (Mich.) in Saturday's tournament action. Tip off against the undefeated Warriors (6-0) is slated for 4 p.m.
