SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – Notre Dame won their 10th game of the season Friday, with a 87-60 victory over Carlow (Pa.). Sophomore center #Yvette Hunter# led the charge for the Falcons with 26 points, 18 of which came in the second half as the Falcons pulled away. The game, the Falcons' second home tilt of the season, marked the beginning of Notre Dame's conference season.
With the win, NDC has now won three straight games. Friday's victory over Carlow (0-7) also marked the Falcons' second over the Celtics this season; NDC topped CU in Pittsburgh on Nov. 25 by a score of 78-55. That contest was not played as an American Mideast Conference (AMC) game.
The Falcons jumped out to an early 12-4 lead within the first five minutes of the game, and never looked back. Senior forward #Jamie Henry# tallying 11 of her 17 points in the first half. NDC tried to make several runs to put the game away early, but Carlow held tough, trailing 35-30 at the break.
Notre Dame used another early half run to put the game away for good. Hunter picked up some easy shots around the basket to key the 18-6 run. Junior guard #Amanda Brown# also had a strong second half for the Falcons. Brown scored all 16 of her points in the second frame. Aside from her 17 points, Henry also collected 13 rebounds.
“Our team really worked hard tonight,” said head coach #Dick Deasy#. “Give credit to Carlow for never giving up throughout. They made us work for this win. Hopefully, we can take this momentum down to Florida with us.”
Junior guard Lauren Roscoe (Vienna, Ohio) paced the Celtics with 19 points, and freshman forward Joncelyn Peterkin (West Mifflin, Pa.) chipped in with 13 points and 9 rebounds in defeat.
The win on College Road runs Notre Dame's home record this season to 2-0. The Falcons went 14-2 at home a year ago (2007-08) and are now 54-8 (.871) in their last 62 games on their home hardwood.
Notre Dame's next game will be Tuesday, Dec. 16, when the Falcons play in the first of three games in the West Palm Beach Classic, hosted by Northwoods University (Fla.). NDC will take on Cornerstone (Mich.) Tuesday at 8 p.m.

PERFECT TEN: With their win at Murphy Gymnasium on Friday, the Falcons have now defeated the Celtics in 11 straight games, dating back to the 2004 season. … Nine of NDC's 10 wins have been by more than ten points. Their other win was by eight points at Ursuline (Nov. 12).
