The Notre Dame College men’s soccer program was instituted in 2001. The Falcon squad saw success right out of the gate, going 8-10-0 in their inaugural season and earning an outright American Mideast North Division championship in their second season. NDC tacked on four more division championships (2004-07), three conference titles (2008, 2009, and 2010) and made four NAIA National Tournament appearances (2005, 2008, 2009, and 2010). In 2010, the Falcons went 23-1-0 and advanced to their first ever National Championship Final.

In 2011, Notre Dame was in the process of becoming NCAA Division II members. During that season, the Falcons went undefeated as they competed as an independent. NDC ended the season with a record of 19-0 on its way to winning the Ohio Independent Championship Cup and the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II Championship.

In the 2012 season, NDC competed as an NCAA-II institution in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) before joining the Mountain East Conference in 2013. They defeated Drury (MO), on Nov. 9, 2012, in the first round of the NCAA-II National Championship Tournament, making them the first program in Notre Dame history to both participate in, and win a postseason contest at the NCAA-II level. In 2013, their first season competing in the Mountain East Conference, they captured the inaugural MEC Regular Season Championship. Over their first four seasons (2012-15) competing as an NCAA institution, the Falcons made it to the National Tournament each year. They earned a spot in the 2018 NCAA-II Tournament after winning 14 games. The Falcons advanced to the MEC Tournament Championship game in 2019 and 2020. They finished the 2020 season, which was played in spring 2021 due to COVID-19, ranked No. 15 in Division II.
