NDC Men's Basketball was instituted in 2001, with the Falcons' inaugural season being 2001-02. The Falcon program earned its best-ever record (20-11) in 2009-10, before besting that record with a 21-11 mark in the 2015-16 season. NDC earned its first-ever conference tournament appearance in 2006-07, and its first-ever Division Championship in 2007-08.
The Falcons competed for one year as an NCAA-II Independent, before joining the Mountain East Conference in 2013-14.

- On January 30, 2014, the Falcons pulled off the biggest upset in the history of the program, when they defeated previously unbeaten, No. 1 West Liberty on the road, 89-87. It was NDC's first win over a No.1 team at any level.
-In the 2016 MEC Tournament, the Falcons made their first ever appearance in the MEC Finals, after defeating two top-5 teams in the country in Wheeling Jesuit and Fairmont State.
