BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Last week, Notre Dame College entered conference play and outscored its opponents, 45-12, over two games. The Falcons defeated Davis & Elkins College, 19-6, and West Virginia Wesleyan College, 26-6. And for the first time this season, a Falcon earned a Player of the Week award. On Monday, the Mountain East Conference gave the Offensive Player of the Week honors to
Gwen Bogash, while
Joselyn Storm earned the Defensive Player of the Week award. These awards are presented by The Health Plan.
Bogash had a historic week, totaling 12 goals. The freshman from Mastic, N.Y. scored a career-high eight goals, on ten shots, against Davis & Elkins. In the record books, she placed herself second in Notre Dame single-game history with that performance. Bogash scored four of her goals in the second quarter as Notre Dame outscored D&E, 6-0, in that stanza. She also had an assist to total nine points in the day.
The St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School product added four goals on Saturday, against W.Va. Wesleyan. She also had an assist in that game and caused two turnovers on the defensive side.
The Defensive Player of the Week will go to Storm, after she totaled six caused turnovers last week and four of them led to goals for NDC. She led the team in caused turnovers against D&E, tallying four, which tied a career-high. She added two more against Wesleyan.
To along with her great work on the defensive side, the midfielder also had a total of five goals and two assists last week. She tied a season-high in draw controls, with nine against Davis & Elkins, before winning five more draws versus Wesleyan.
Notre Dame will play Frostburg State University, in a rematch of the 2023 MEC Championship game, at home, on April 4. First draw is scheduled for 3 p.m.
