This Week: Notre Dame College women's lacrosse has spent a lot of time in Illinois over spring break and will play on more game in the state, taking on McKendree University, in Lebanon Illinois, on March 9. First draw is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Records: Notre Dame has gotten off to a 1-3 start this season, while McKendree is 1-4.
Coaches Corner: Elizabeth Mettler is in her first season leading NDC. She has been on the staff as an assistant and the recruiting director since 2017. Natalie Simpson is also in her first season as the head coach at McKendree.
Rankings: Neither of these teams are ranked in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association top 25 poll.
Series History: NDC has never played McKendree.
Noting the Falcons: Notre Dame traveled to play Lewis University, on March 2, and Quincy University, on March 4. The Falcons fell to Lewis, 17-7.
Jovie Noack scored the first goal of the game and gave NDC a 1-0 lead, but LU then scored the next seven goals. The Falcons cut the deficit to six, 12-6, in third quarter, when
Grace Nickoloff passed to
Carlie Wilson for a goal.
Joselyn Storm led the Falcons with two goals in the contest. Nickoloff won two draw controls to go along with scoring one goal and had one assist. NDC then lost by a score of 20-10 to Quincy. The Falcons grabbed the lead three different times in the first quarter as
Gwen Bogash and Nickoloff both scored twice in the first. Quincy scored the final two goals of the quarter, and led 5-4 after 15 minutes. QU scored six goals in both the second quarter and the third quarter to extend its lead.
Nickoloff leads the team with 11 goals and Storm is right behind her with nine.
Grace Rotter totaled 11 points this season with seven goals and four assists and
Gwen Bogash has five goals and five assists. Storm also leads the team with 20 draw controls and 11 ground balls.
Noting the Bearcats: Last Sunday, McKendree was able to secure its first win of the season, at home against William Jewell College, by a score of 12-5. After leading 1-0 after the first quarter, McKendree scored six second quarter goals to take a 7-1 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Bearcats did not score in the third quarter, but then posted five goals in the fourth to secure the win. McKendree took 10 more shots than Williams Jewell in the game, but also committed more turnovers and lost the draw control battle. Jayna Barnden led the team with four goals, Olivia Julian added three goals and Lexi Helms had two. Helms led the team with three draw controls, and Julian caused three turnovers.
Olivia Julian leads the Bearcats with 13 goals this season, while Jayna Barnden has eight goals with two assists. Lexi Macleod has won 11 draws, while Lexi Helms and Lauren Fischer both lead MU with seven caused turnovers.
