St. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Notre Dame College's
Caden Gomes recorded two more hits, on Thursday, but Eckerd College walked away with a 15-1 win.
With one out in the top of the second inning, NDC's junior
Alexander Jones was hit by a pitch, freshman
Carson Petrecca walked and they both moved up a base when freshman
Devon Morris flied out to center field. Freshman
Cadence Varner was then hit by a pitch to load the bases and freshman
Dylan Wimbs stepped up to the plate. After falling behind in the count, 1-2, he worked the count full. The payoff pitch went behind Wimbs and a run crossed the plate on the walk.
Gomes singled in the first inning and the fifth and he pushed his average to .407 on the season. He also made a solid defensive play in the bottom of the first inning. Cutting off a throw coming in from right field, Gomes made a great relay throw to freshman catcher
Aaron Miranda. Eckerd's Kyle Ericson was thrown out trying to score, ending the inning.
Notre Dame will play its final game in Florida, tomorrow, versus Grand Valley State. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
