This Week: Notre Dame College women's lacrosse will travel across the state of the Illinois over the course of three days. On March 2, the Falcons take on Lewis University, with a start time of 5 p.m. On March 4, NDC will be visiting Quincy University, for a matchup beginning at 4 p.m.
Records: Notre Dame has started the 2024 campaign with a 1-1 record. Lewis currently sits at 1-2, while Quincy is 2-3.
Coaches Corner: Elizabeth Mettler is in her first season leading NDC. She has been on the staff as an assistant and the recruiting director since 2017. Colleen Kincaid is entering her second season at Lewis and has a coaching record of 5-11. Kathelene Kim is now in her fourth season on the sideline at Quincy.
Rankings: None of these teams are ranked in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association top 25 poll.
Series History: Notre Dame has never played Lewis. The Falcons battled Quincy last season, in South Euclid, with NDC coming out on top in an 11-8 win.
Noting the Falcons: Notre Dame started the season with a 17-12 win over Thomas More University, on Feb. 18. Last Friday, Feb. 23, Notre Dame's comeback attempt came up short in a 19-15 loss at Ashland.
Grace Nickoloff totaled five goals against Ashland, while
Grace Rotter and
Jovie Noack each had two goals and two assists.
Nickoloff now leads the team with seven goals, while
Joselyn Storm is not far behind, with six. Storm has also won 15 draws over two games.
Gwen Bogash has three goals and five assists.
Noting the Flyers: Lewis got its first win of the season, on Feb. 24, with a 25-7 victory over Saint Ambrose. Heidi Sweeney, Daniella Winterlik, Meltonique Bowen, Carlie Serritella and Amelia Procyk all scored four goals for the Flyers. Alyssa Davidson and Sydney Able each recorded three assists. Serritella won 10 draws.
Meltonique Bowen leads the team with 13 goals over three contests, along with five caused turnovers. Daniella Winterlik has nine points on the season (six goals, three assists).
Noting the Hawks: Quincy last played on Feb. 28 and fell to Maryville University, 17-5. Maryville opened the game with a 12-goal first quarter. Danielle Robinson scored three goals for Quincy, while Emily Leal added two goals and five draw controls.
Danielle Robinson has 17 goals in five games this season to lead the team, while Amelia Ham has seven goals and six assists. Emily Leal and Mikenna Ham both have won 12 draws.
