SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – For the fourth game in a row, Notre Dame College scored at least 17 goals, while allowing fewer than six. That is a recipe for success that the Falcons have used, on their way to a 6-1 conference record after defeating Davis & Elkins College, 19-3. Senior
Megan Dano broke the NDC career assist record in the third quarter.
NDC flexed its muscle early, scoring six first quarter goals, taking 18 shots and winning all seven draw controls.
The Notre Dame defense has been stellar over the entire win streak, but between the fourth quarter of the Charleston contest, on April 13, until Davis & Elkins' first goal in the second quarter, on Wednesday, the Falcons played 93 consecutive minutes of shutout lacrosse.
Less than a minute into the first quarter against D&E, sophomore
Joselyn Storm passed to Dano for the first goal of the game.
The Senators caused a turnover and took possession for the first time, however, the Falcons quickly took the ball back with a caused turnover of their own, caused by Storm.
Senior
Kendal Johnson was involved in three of the next four goals, scoring twice and assisting another. Dano was credited with the assist on both of Johnson's goals as NDC led 5-0, with 6:14 to go in the first.
Junior
Charlotte Vari put two into the back of the net in the first stanza. She would finish with four goals, her season-high and the most in a game since April 27, 2022. She also notched her 100th career point.
NDC continued to add on in the second quarter. Davis & Elkins' goalie Marissa Cuevas saved two shots within the first four minutes of the quarter, but NDC freshman
Carlie Wilson caused a turnover, leading to a goal by sophomore
Piper Hammond, with an assist by Dano.
The Senators scored for the first time, following an NDC turnover, but the Falcons responded right away. Storm won the next draw, leading to a goal by senior
Jamira Mashore.
Johnson and Hammond found the net on a pair of free position shots to close out the half and NDC led 10-1. At halftime, Johnson had three goals and Dano had already totaled four assists.
To start the third quarter, the teams had combined for four goals by the eight-minute mark. Dano found Vari for two consecutive Notre Dame goals, with the second one representing Dano's assist that broke the program record of 72. That same goal pushed Vari over 100 career points.
Dano is now sitting at 75 career assists in her three seasons at Notre Dame. She also has 28 assists this season, which breaks the Notre Dame single-season record and her eight total assists in the game is a career-high mark and second-most in a game in program history. She finished the contest with nine points, which is also a career-high.
Dano, again, was credited with an assist when she found sophomore
Grace Nickoloff, to put Notre Dame up 13-3, with 4:28 remaining in the quarter.
Freshman
Ella Scoville won one of her six draw controls on the day. And that led to a goal by Mashore to start the fourth. With the clock running, NDC worked quickly and scored three goals by the 11-minute mark.
Leading 16-3, Johnson then added two to her total and finished the game with five goals for the second time in the last three games. Freshman
Jovie Noack passed to Wilson for the final score of the day to give NDC a 19-3 lead, with less than two minutes remaining.
The Senators were held to three shots in the game and turned the ball over 25 times. NDC ended the contest with 16 more draw controls (21-5) than D&E. The Falcons' 21 draw controls is the highest of any game this season. Notre Dame took 50 shots, which ranks fourth in program history.
Storm finished with a career-high seven draw controls, while Carson also hit a career-high, with six.
The Falcons will play their first road game in over two weeks, when they travel to Alderson Broaddus, for a matchup at 12 p.m., on April 22.
