Notre Dame continues homestand on Wednesday, before traveling on Saturday

This Week: On April 19, Notre Dame College women's lacrosse will battle Davis & Elkins College, at 3 p.m. on Mueller Field. The Falcons travel to Alderson Broaddus University, for a matchup on April 22, at 12 p.m.

Records: Notre Dame is riding a three-game win streak and has a record of 6-7, overall, with a 5-1 Mountain East Conference record. Davis & Elkins has a mark of 2-11 (2-4 MEC) and Alderson Broaddus is 0-8 (0-6 MEC).

Coaches Corner: Ben Morhac is in year number four on the sideline at Notre Dame and has put together a record of 30-19 (22-3 MEC). David Pomeroy has been with D&E for two seasons and Ace Mallonee is in his first season on the sideline at AB.

Rankings: None of these teams are ranked in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) top 25 poll.

Series History: Notre Dame is 6-1 all-time against Davis & Elkins, defeating D&E 14-4, on March 30. The Falcons have outscored the Senators 59-7 over the last three matchups, including a 22-0 win in the 2022 MEC Semifinals. NDC beat Alderson Broaddus, 17-3, on April 7, and the Falcons hold a 5-0 record against the Battlers.

Noting the Falcons: Notre Dame outscored its two opponents, 47-5, last week. The Falcons defeated Charleston, 20-5, before shutting out West Virginia Wesleyan, 27-0. Kendall Johnson led the team with five goals against Charleston and Faith Flanagan scored four against WVWC. Nine different players scored against Charleston and 12 different players found the net against W.Va. Wesleyan.
 
Kendal Johnson was named MEC Offensive Player of the Week and Annika Duncan took MEC Defensive Player of the Week. It was the second time this season that NDC swept the conference's weekly awards. Johnson totaled eight goals, three assists and 11 points over the two games last week. Against Charleston, she had five goals and two assists, scoring five goals in a game for the first time since April 8, 2021, prior to injuries the past two years. Duncan, the NDC goalie, had five saves against UC and three more against WVWC. She allowed just five goals over the two games.
 
Megan Dano is tied for the top spot in assists on the team (20) with Jamira Mashore. Dano needs six more assists to break the program record in career assists. Mashore has also scored 17 goals, and she leads the team with 37 points. Johnson holds the team lead with 23 goals. Piper Hammond has caused 10 more turnovers than anyone else on the team, and is sitting at 25 and also leads the squad with 51 draw controls. Hammond leads the conference, and ranks 21st in the country, with 1.92 caused turnovers per game. Annika Duncan has started 12 games in goal, saving 66 shots. Duncan leads the MEC, and is 30th in D2, with 10.95 goals allowed per game.

Notre Dame currently leads the MEC in goals per game (11.77), assists per game (6.54), draw controls per game (12.69), points per game (18.31), goals allowed (11.08) and turnovers committed per game (13.08). The team ranks eighth in NCAA Division II in turnovers per game.
 
Noting the Senators: Davis & Elkins only scored 10 total goals over the past two games, losing to Frostburg State and Charleston. That comes after winning two consecutive games against Alderson Broaddus and West Virginia Wesleyan, two weeks ago.
 
Ari Hinton leads the team with 28 goals, 10 assists and 38 points. She is also tied for the team lead with 21 draw controls with Thayer Karl. Shanyn Furlong has caused 18 turnovers and goalkeeper Marissa Cuevas has caused 12. In goal, Cuevas has 184 saves and a save percentage of .533 and she leads the conference in both categories. In NCAA D2, she ranks first in total saves, second in saves per game (14.15) and fifth in save percentage.

Noting the Battlers: Alderson Broaddus scored a season-high 14 goals last week in a loss to West Virginia Wesleyan, before scoring a season-low one goal against Frostburg State, on Sunday.
 
Terri Nashe has scored 19 goals, which leads the team. Felicia Young is second on the club with 12 goals, while also winning 41 draw controls. She leads the MEC, and 36th in the country, by winning 5.25 draws per game. Lilly Parsons has totaled 34 draw controls. Goalie Taylor Young ranks 11th in the country in saves (139) and 17th in save percentage (.476), while leading the conference, and Division II, with 17.38 saves per game.
