Schweiger's pair of doubles not enough for NDC baseball at Rollins

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Redshirt sophomore Maximilian Schweiger continued to swing a hot bat for the Notre Dame College baseball team (0-9) on Saturday afternoon against Rollins College (15-5). Despite Schweiger's offensive output, the Falcons fell 7-0 to the Tars, during NDC's final game in Florida.

Notre Dame threatened during the top of the first inning, as Nate Miller and Hayden Parker walked, followed by Bill Reaume's hit by pitch. However, Rollins worked out of the bases loaded one-out jam, keeping the game scoreless.

Schweiger got the Falcons in scoring position for the second inning in a row, following a one-out double down the left field line. Again, RC anchored down to hold the game at 0-0.

The Tars opened the scoring during the home half of the second inning with three runs on two hits (3-0).

Rollins added a pair of runs in the third inning, stretching the advantage to 5-0.

Schweiger's day continued during the top of the fifth inning, as the West Geauga High School product roped a leadoff double to left field, his second of the game. However, RC once again found timely outs to hold NDC at bay.

Johnathan Cook tallied a leadoff single for Notre Dame during the top of the eighth inning, but another pair of insurance runs from Rollins closed out the contest 7-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Schweiger's productive day at the plate featured the most extra-base hits by a Falcon in a game this season, as the redshirt sophomore posts a team-high three doubles on the year.

The Notre Dame College baseball team will be back in action on Tuesday Mar. 14 at 1 p.m. for the home opener against Mercyhurst University in Avon, Ohio at Mercy Health Stadium.
