WINTER PARK, Fla. – Redshirt sophomore
Johnathan Cook picked up a pair of hits on the day, but the Notre Dame College baseball team (0-8) fell to the University of Minnesota Crookston (7-8), 13-0 on Friday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles started the scoring with two runs on two hits in the top of the first inning (2-0).
Graduate student
Devin Fish toed the rubber for NDC, as the New Berlin, Wis. native settled in during the second through fourth innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while punching out three.
However, UMC added three runs on three hits in top of the fifth inning to move in front 5-0.
Minnesota Crookston followed with eight runs in the eighth inning to take command of the game (13-0).
The Falcons threatened during the bottom half of the frame with the bases loaded, after Cook,
Alec Mendoza and
Nate Miller reached base. But the Golden Eagles would work out of the jam, to win 13-0.
The Notre Dame College offense was paced by Cook's first two hits as an NDC Falcon, along with Mendoza,
Maximilian Schweiger and
Bill Reaume who each tallied a base knock.
Kyle Farrell and
Matthew Brown each posted scoreless innings in relief, grabbing one strikeout apiece.
The Notre Dame College baseball team will round out their spring break trip in Winter Park, Fla. with another contest against Rollins College at Alfond Stadium, tomorrow Saturday Mar. 11 beginning at 12 p.m.
