Noel Weathers' third career double-double and
Marina Adachi's team-high 18 points, the Notre Dame College women's basketball team (6-17, 5-12 MEC) dropped 85-59 to Fairmont State University (17-8, 11-6 MEC) on Wednesday evening.
A slow start to the contest for NDC featured a 24-9 FSU lead after one.
The FSU Falcons carried a 52-22 lead into the break after beating the NDC Falcons, 28-13 in the second.
Despite a quiet first half, Notre Dame battled for the entire 40 minutes, including taking the third (18-17) and fourth quarters (19-16), before falling 85-59 on the road.
Notre Dame College was led by Adachi's team-high 18 points, followed by Weathers who poured in 14.
The freshman recorded her third career double-double after bringing down 12 rebounds, tying her career-high.
Fellow freshman
Cencere McDaniel chipped in seven points and a career-high five rebounds on the night.
As a team, NDC shot 25-73 (34.2%) from the floor, 3-14 (21.4%) from the field and 6-7 (85.7%) from the free throw line.
The Notre Dame College women's basketball team will be back in action on Saturday February 11, for a 2 p.m. tip-off against Frostburg State University. The Falcons will celebrate Senior Day inside Murphy Gymnasium.
