Emma Martcheva were honored prior to the start of the contest.
Despite, a team-high and career-high 20 points from freshman
Noel Weathers, the Notre Dame College women's basketball team (6-18, 5-13 MEC) fell 88-75 to Frostburg State University (7-17, 5-13 MEC).
The Falcons began the contest in front, an early and-one by Weathers, and jumper from Adachi, gave NDC a 5-0 lead two minutes in. Although FSU tied the game at 8-8, Notre Dame would work the score back to an 18-12 advantage after one, following a buzzer-beating jumper from junior
Lizzie Imrie.
The second quarter was handled by the Bobcats, 34-8, as Frostburg State took a 46-26 lead into the break.
Notre Dame came out of the half determined to trim the FSU, as the Falcons went on to claim both the third (22-18) and fourth quarters (27-24). However, the Bobcats held on to defeat the Falcons 88-75 upon the final whistle.
NDC was led by four Falcons in double figures on the afternoon in Weathers (20), Adachi (18),
Lilee Carlson (13) and Imrie (10). As aforementioned, Weathers notches her career-high after shooting an efficient 7-10 from the floor and 6-7 from the free throw line.
The freshman also chipped in on the glass, as Weathers brought down a team-high five rebounds.
The Falcons registered 11 assists as a team, as Martcheva generated a career-high, alongside Adachi with a pair of assists a piece.
Imrie stepped up on the defensive side of the ball, swiping a career-high three steals.
As a team, Notre Dame shot 28-60 (46.7%) from the floor, 4-17 (23.5%) from three and 15-21 (71.4%) from the free throw line.
The Notre Dame College women's basketball team will be back in action on Wednesday Feb. 15 for a 5:30 p.m. contest against the University of Charleston inside Murphy Gymnasium.
