Zachary Kakos continued to see the ball well at the plate on Sunday afternoon for the Notre Dame College baseball team (0-3). Shadle picked up a team-high five hits during the series, while Kakos drove in a team-best three RBI on the weekend. Despite quality output at the dish, NDC fell to the University of Indianapolis (3-0) in the series finale, 13-1.
The Greyhounds began the contest with a run in the first, second and third innings, to lead 3-0.
The Falcons jumped on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning on three hits.
Johnny Costella got the action started with a leadoff single to right field, followed by a single up the middle by
Devon Minney. The third batter of the frame was Kakos, as he cashed in on an RBI single to center field (3-1), scoring Costella.
However, UIndy responded with three runs in the bottom half of the fifth inning, extending the lead to 6-1.
Indianapolis added seven runs in the sixth inning to grab the contest 13-1.
Shadle, Minney and Kakos led the Notre Dame offense on the day with two hits apiece, as Kakos produced the RBI.
The Notre Dame College baseball team will be back in action on Monday Mar. 6 at 11 a.m. against Ashland University. The Falcons will play the Golden Eagles in Winter Park, Fla. in the first of six games for NDC on their annual Spring Break trip.
