ATHENS, W.Va. – Four Falcons in double figures, led by a career-high 23 points from sophomore
Cencere McDaniel fueled a big-time road win for the Notre Dame College women's basketball team (2-6, 1-3 MEC) at Concord University (4-3, 2-1 MEC) on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons outscored the Mountain Lions 29-13 in the fourth quarter, including 11 from McDaniel, as NDC cruised 80-65 to snap CU's four-game win streak.
In the first quarter, Concord led 4-0, before Notre Dame produced a 9-2 run, as
Mallory Hullinger drilled a three-pointer at the 4:58 mark (9-6 NDC). The Falcons extended their advantage to 19-12 at the end of the first quarter, when
Rachel Richardson found
Kennadi Harris for a buzzer-beating three-pointer.
The two sides battled in the second quarter as CU knotted the contest at 32-32 with 2:44 remaining in the half. The Falcons quickly reestablished a five-point lead at the break as Richardson dished to McDaniel for a three-pointer with less than 10 seconds to play (39-34).
Notre Dame maintained a 46-39 edge at the 6:23 mark in the third quarter, following a pair of free throws by
Kennadi Harris and layup from
Noel Weathers. However, the Mountain Lions opened a 13-5 run to close out the stanza, to lead 52-21 with 10 minutes left in the game.
Notre Dame anchored down in the fourth quarter, as the Falcons closed out the game on a 23-6 run. Despite trailing 59-57 with 6:23 left to play, NDC received three straight baskets by McDaniel to put Notre Dame back ahead 67-62 with 3:50 remaining on the clock. Excellent free throw shooting in the final two minutes of the contest allowed the Falcons to put the game on ice, 80-65. Richardson, McDaniel,

Karli Anker each knocked down a pair of free throws as Notre Dame dominated the frame 29-13, en route to the road win.
As aforementioned, McDaniel, the sophomore from Alsip, IL touted a game-high and career-high 23 points. Anker (15), Richardson (13) and Harris (10) contributed to the scoring marking four Falcons in double figures.
Richardson facilitated the offense with a team-high three assists, alongside Carlson and Hullinger with a pair each.
On the glass, Weathers corralled a team-high eight rebounds, while Richardson grabbed a career-high seven and McDaniel owned a season-high six.
As a team, Notre Dame shot 26-55 (47.3%) from the floor, 7-20 (35.0%) from three and 21-24 (87.5%) from the free throw line. NDC made a season-high 21 made free throws, including their best free throw percentage in a game since Feb. 17, 2021. The Falcons added 38 rebounds, 10 assists, five steals and five blocks.
Concord showed 24-69 (34.8%) from the field, 5-20 (25.0%) from three and 12-20 (60.0%) from the free throw line. CU grabbed 41 rebounds, 14 assists, nine steals and zero blocks.
The Notre Dame College women's basketball team will be back in action on Wednesday Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m., as the Falcons travel to Davis & Elkins College.
