Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

NDC falls at Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – On Wednesday, Notre Dame College traveled to play No. 7 ranked University of Charleston. With four goals early in the first half, the Golden Eagles were able to get past the Falcons by a final score of 5-0.

Charleston came out of the gate aggressively and pushed the ball into the attacking third. The home team scored the first goal of the game in the fifth minute.

NDC's goalkeeper Danilo Abayo Wilson was able to make his first save of the game, stopping a shot by Stafford Dowling, four minutes later. However, in the 11th minute, UC took advantage of a Notre Dame mistake in front of its own goal and Dowling found the back of the net to put the Golden Eagles up, 2-0.

Charleston would add to its lead by taking advantage of a couple corner kicks. In the 23rd minute, the corner was sent into the box and the Falcons were unable to completely clear the ball away. That led to a Charleston goal. Again in the 26th minute, a corner led to UC header and a 4-0 advantage.

With just under 13 minutes to go before halftime, freshman Alex Greaves had the best look at goal for NDC in the half. He sent a free kick on one hop into the arms of the Golden Eagles' Marc Torrado.

Greaves would end the game with three shots on goal and sophomore Parker Bolin took two.

Charleston's final goal was scored by Eduardo Barros, on a penalty kick in the 70th minute.

On Oct. 8, Notre Dame will host Davis & Elkins College, on Mueller Field. First kick is scheduled for 12 p.m.
