Notre Dame posts second shutout of the year in scoreless draw with Concord

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The Notre Dame College women's soccer team (4-2-3, 3-2-1 MEC) extended their unbeaten streak to five straight matches, their longest since 2019, following a scoreless draw against Concord University (5-2-2, 5-1-1 MEC) on Sunday afternoon.
 
The contest began with a pair of shots on goal, one from each side, during the fifth and sixth minutes but, senior Jordan Pasalaqua and CU keeper Sarah Pattillo made the saves.
 
The Mountain Lions registered two more shots on goal during the 15th and 31st minutes, as Pasalaqua tallied three of her season-high six saves in the first half. The two sides exchanged six (CU) and five (NDC) shots, respectively in the half, as the score read 0-0 at the break.
 
Once again, the two sides jumped out of the half with pair of shots on goal, with Concord testing Pasalaqua within the first minute. Sophomore Mia Maruna place a shot on target in the 53rd minute but the score remained level.
 
Miriam Szijarto posted the final shot on goal in the 72nd minute, and despite five (CU) and four (NDC) second half shots created, the Falcons and Mountain Lions played to a scoreless draw.
 
Szijarto, Hailee Smith and Kalie Blaising recorded two shots apiece, as Notre Dame totaled nine shots, including three on goal in the game.
 
As aforementioned, Pasalaqua grabbed six saves, tying a season-high mark which she has hit three times this year. In addition, the Madison, Ohio native earned NDC their second shutout of the season.
 
The Notre Dame College women's soccer team will be back in action on Wednesday Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. as the Falcons fly to south to face the University of Charleston.
