NDC drops home contest to CU, despite three Falcons in double figures

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – Despite a balanced scoring attack for Notre Dame College (5-14, 4-9 MEC), the Falcons fell on Wednesday evening inside Murphy Gymnasium, 67-50 to Concord University (6-12, 4-9 MEC).
 
The Falcons began the game with back-to-back baskets within the first minute of play. A three-pointer by Marina Adachi and layup from Nadia Jackson, gave NDC a quick 5-0 lead.
 
Concord responded with a 15-2 run, moving in front 15-7 with 5:42 left in the quarter.
 
Notre Dame trimmed the CU lead down to two, after Alana Ellis secured an offense rebound and made a layup as time expired on the first quarter (15-13).
 
The Mountain Lions controlled the second quarter, 23-9, to lead 38-22 at the break. CU carried the halftime lead into the fourth quarter, leading 54-33 with 10 minutes to play.
 
Notre Dame kept their foot on the gas for the entire 40 minutes as the Falcons forced seven Mountain Lion turnovers in the final period. NDC won the fourth quarter 17-13, but fell 67-50 to CU after the final buzzer.
 
The Falcons were led by a balanced scoring attack in Ellis (13), Adachi (12) and freshman Noel Weathers (12). Adachi posted 4-7 from three-point land, as Weathers secured a team-high seven rebounds.
 
As a unit Notre Dame shot 15-55 (27.3%) from the floor, 5-13 (38.5%) from three and 15-23 (65.2%) from the charity stripe.
 
The Notre Dame College women's basketball team will be back in action on Saturday Jan. 28 for a 2 p.m. tip at No. 5 Glenville State University.
