SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – Notre Dame College and Seton Hill University were both on the attack early, on Wednesday afternoon, as they combined for 17 first half shots. NDC scored three goals in the 3-1 win over the Griffins, and have now scored multiple times in each game during their current six-game win streak.
Less than 10 seconds into the contest, the Falcons had taken the possession from Seton Hill and sophomore
Connor O'Reilly sent a shot on target, saved by goalkeeper Nathaniel Huff.
The native of Letterkenny, Ireland did not wait long to try again, and the second time, he found the net. The ball was sent into the box, deflected off a defender and O'Reilly was in the right spot. He put the ball into the air as he moved around a defender, gained control again and scored in the third minute.
In the 14th minute, Seton Hill tied the contest at one with a goal scored by Brice Gandhi. But, the Falcons went right back on top, 10 minutes later, when they pushed the ball down the field in a flash. Sophomore
Callum Cleary was working deep on the NDC side of the field, but sent a pass with perfect touch to midfield, where freshman
Simao Coelho took it and ran. He closed in on goal and sent the ball over the keeper's head for the second NDC goal of the contest.
In the second half, the Falcons dominated the time of possession and Seton Hill took just two shots in the final 45 minutes.
The final goal of the game was put in by senior
Ned Dry. The Falcons had a corner, and the ball ricocheted off of junior
Antonio Bittencourt and senior
Jordan Lewis, before finding Dry. He sent the ball into the net, before the goalkeeper could react.
"I knew that one would fall to me. We've looked good on set pieces all season, so I knew one would drop," Dry said. "Right place, right time and I was able to hook it in."
Dry and sophomore
Taylor Dyson each had a solid chance at a goal, in the 79th minute, but Bobby White, who had come into the game to replace Huff, made a save on Dry's shot. Then, the team was credited with a save on Dyson's attempt.
The Falcons have won six games in-a-row for the first time since 2018.
"Confidence is massive," Dry mentioned. "I think we're going into every game, feeling like no matter who we are up against, we will be able to get a result. The way we are starting most games is really good. We are looking forward to each match, no matter who we play."
Notre Dame will visit West Virginia Wesleyan, on Oct. 2. The scheduled start time is 1 p.m.
