ERIE, Pa. – The Notre Dame College volleyball team saw the host schools of the Mercyhurst/Gannon Invitational with NDC falling in game one to GU, 3-0. In game two, the Falcons bounced back and commandingly took down MU in straight sets. Senior

Jayme Zoeckler contributed from a multitude of different avenues, highlighted by her match high 29 assists. Sophomore
Kiley Kalina anchored the backline with a game-high 18 digs.
In game one, Gannon jumped out to a 12-3 lead and never looked back by winning the set 25-7. The second set showed an early 8-2 GU lead, and later a 25-15 set win. In the final set, the Golden Knights began up 5-0, and claimed the frame, 25-14.
During the final match of the weekend, Notre Dame bounced back with a resounding straight set victory over Mercyhurst. Again, NDC got down early as MU led 5-2. But the Falcons flipped the script with an 11-0 run and a 13-5 lead. Kills by sophomore

Ryleigh Ronald and Zoeckler fueled the NDC run. Notre Dame would polish off the set 25-16.
After a 4-4 tie to begin the second stanza, the Falcons ripped off a 14-2 run fueled by three Dregalla kills. Upon leaping ahead 18-4, NDC went on to grab set two, 25-13.
During the final set of play, the Falcons trailed 10-6 early, before producing a 6-0 run to claim a 12-10 lead. The Lakers reclaimed the lead at 14-13, but not for long. Notre Dame put their foot down and rattled off a 12-3 run to win the set (25-17) and the match convincingly, 3-0.
On the day, Notre Dame was led offensively by Dregalla and Comer with 14 and 11 kills over the two games. In the setting department, Zoeckler facilitated the NDC attack with 41 total assists. The Falcons totaled 53 kills on 192 total attacks, to go with 50 assists.
Defensively, Kalina and freshman
Sierra Nausieda generated 26 and 15 digs respectively to lead the team, as NDC posted 92 digs on the day. At the net, Notre Dame swatted 13 different attacks with Ronald and Zoeckler enjoying career days with six and five blocks, respectively.
The Notre Dame College volleyball team will be back in action on Tuesday August 30 at 6pm when the Falcons head to Ashland University.
