Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women’s lacrosse scores 22 goals on 12 assists against Frostburg State

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – After a close first quarter, Notre Dame College outscored Frostburg State University 15-4 in the final 45 minutes to win, 22-8, on Saturday afternoon. Six Falcons scored multiple times, including Emileigh Scott, who scored eight goals on 13 shots.

Scott put the first goal on the scoreboard with 13:47 to go in the first quarter. Freshman Piper Hammond was credited with the assist. Hammond would finish the game with a season-high four assists, to go along with three goals.

The Bobcats would tie the game at one and, later in the first stanza, knot the contest up at three with back-to-back goals. NDC then began to pull ahead in the final 3:30 of the quarter. Hammond would assist on the goal to put NDC up 4-3, and then she scored a goal of her own the next time down the field. NDC outscored FSU 4-1 to end the quarter and led 7-4 heading into the second.

The Falcons continued to add separation as Scott and Hammond scored in the first two minutes of the second quarter.

NDC's defense was also very solid and Frostburg State had trouble maintaining possession. After the Bobcats scored at the 9:36-mark, Notre Dame took advantage of turnovers as senior Ebony Reddick and freshman Joselyn Storm put up goals 10 and 11, respectively.

Senior Alicyn Loberg then won a draw control and sophomore McKenna Kincaid got into the action with a goal. At halftime, the Falcons led 12-6.

"This was the first game that we really had a great first half," head coach Ben Morhac said. "This was what we were expecting as a coaching staff."

Notre Dame would outscore Frostburg State 10-2 in the second half. A turnover by the Bobcats led to a goal by Storm in the opening minutes of the half. NDC draw controls allowed the Falcons to grab possession and score. The Falcons pushed the lead to nine, 15-6, with 11:11 to go in the third quarter.

The lead reached double-digits (18-8) when Hammond found Scott for a goal with 3:32 to go in the third.

With a running clock in the fourth quarter, NDC outscored FSU 4-0 to close the contest. Frostburg State did not take a shot in the final quarter.

"The offense was moving the ball really well," Morhac mentioned. "We were staying really disciplined. I think we stayed true to our character today. If you look at the stat sheet, we were sharing the ball, getting a lot of people involved."

Scott's eight goals ranks second in program history for a single game. She also posted a season-high 14 draw controls. Hammond finished with a career-high seven points, while Storm had three goals and a career-high three assists. Reddick scored a season-high three goals.

Notre Dame will travel to meet No. 2 University of Indianapolis, on April 5. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
