WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – In the pitcher's circle,
Chloe Vance had a strong start for Notre Dame College on Monday, going six innings and striking out five. Seton Hill University remained undefeated on the season as they were able to score a run in four consecutive innings and win by a score of 4-1.
Notre Dame looked to have the offense going early as they had two hits in the first inning and two hits in the second, but did not get on the board.
The Griffins took the lead in the third, after a walk, a sacrifice bunt and an RBI single.
NDC responded quickly in the top half of the fourth inning. Starting at the bottom of the order and one out, freshman
Ella Collinsworth singled. With two outs, senior
Daniele Rivera reached base with a single and moved Collinsworth to third. An error on Seton Hill's shortstop, Nina Grandey, allowed Collinsworth to score and the Falcons tied the contest at one.
Seton Hill would score a run in the fourth, fifth and sixth. However, Vance did a good job of limiting the damage and stranding runners on base in the fourth and fifth inning.
Sophomore
Katelyn DeWeese and Rivera combined for four hits at the top of the NDC order. Collinsworth went 2-for-3 in the ninth slot.
Notre Dame is playing the University of the Sciences and Edinboro University on Tuesday.
