JAN PHYL VILLAGE, Fla. – Notre Dame College scored 16 runs and recorded 23 hits on Tuesday as they defeated the University of Sciences, 9-4, and Edinboro University, 7-0. The Falcons used timely hitting against USciences to score in five different innings and then they used the long ball in game two against Edinboro.
Notre Dame got the day started by plating one run in the bottom of the first inning as sophomore
Katelyn DeWeese reached on error, stole second, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and then scored on a groundout by freshman
Emma Gumont.
DeWeese had two hits and scored two runs in the first game of the day and then recorded a hit and scored a run against Edinboro in game two.
USciences would score four times in the top of the second. After loading the bases, an RBI single, walk and two-run single gave the Devils a 4-1 advantage.
Notre Dame started their comeback in the bottom half of the inning, when senior
Alexi Maciejowski led off with a double and senior
Lexi Rehm singled to bring in the run.
The Falcons then posted a crooked number in the third, scoring five times. It was their highest scoring inning this season. DeWeese, senior
Daniele Rivera and Gumont singled to load the bases. Senior
Mikaela Fording hit a sacrifice fly to score a run and then Maciejowski doubled in a second run.
Maciejowski tied her career-high with three hits in both games on Tuesday.

Rivera led off the fourth with a double and scored two batters later on a groundout. The next inning, she drew a bases loaded walk to give NDC a 9-4 lead.
Sophomore

Allison Weilnau entered and got her first collegiate win. After the second inning, Weilnau only allowed one hit and walked three over two innings and two batters. Freshman
Alyssa Wahl got the save after pitching three innings of no-hit softball.
Five players in the Notre Dame lineup had a multi-hit game. Rehm totaled three RBI.
In the second contest of the day,
Chloe Vance got the win for the Falcons as she fooled Edinboro hitters. Along with pitching her first career complete game shutout, Vance also set a career-high with six strikeouts, allowing just two hits. Edinboro did not get a base hit until the fourth inning and they were set down in order five times.
The Falcons' offense did all their damage in the third and fifth innings. In the third, with runners on first and second and two out, Fording singled in a run. The next batter,
Alexi Maciejowski, sent a ball over the fence for three more runs. And in the fifth inning, with two runners on, Fording hit her second homer of the campaign to give NDC a 7-0 lead.
Along with Maciejowski's three-hit performance, Fording and Rivera each had two hits. Fording posted a career-high four RBI in game two and totaled five RBI on the day.
