BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – A shorthanded Notre Dame College team (3-4-2, 2-3-2 MEC) fell 1-0 to West Virginia Wesleyan (2-7-1, 2-5-1 MEC) on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
In the third minute of the match, NDC junior
Madison Marino was shown a red card after a defensive challenge, resulting in the Falcons playing with 10 players for the remainder of the game.
Within minutes the Bobcats were on the attack after registering a pair of shots on goal in the fifth and seventh minutes. However, goalkeeper
Jordan Pasalaqua denied both attempts as she tied her season-high with seven saves in the match.
Junior
Anaya Edwards produced two shots on goal in the first and 13
th minutes, but the WVWC keeper recorded two of her three saves on the day.
With the score still tied at 0-0, the intensity ramped up in the second half. Notre Dame created shots on goal by freshman

Blake Allen in the 67
th and 68
th minutes, but to no avail.
Despite five second half saves by Pasalaqua, the Bobcats broke through with the game-winning goal in the 73
rd minute to win by a score of 1-0.
The Falcons concluded the match with five shots including four our on goal, to go with six corner kicks and seven saves. WVWC finished with 12 shots and eight on goal, to go with four corner kicks and four team saves.
The Notre Dame College women's soccer team will be back in action on Wednesday Oct. 5 at 3 p.m. when they welcome Davis & Elkins College onto Mueller Field.
