Notre Dame polishes off West Liberty in restarted match

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – 20 days after inclement weather suspended the match between Notre Dame (5-5-3, 4-4-3 MEC) and West Liberty (2-5-1, 1-4-1 MEC), the two sides resumed the final 33 minutes of their contest on Friday afternoon. On a sunny day at Mueller Field, the Falcons held on to a 1-0 victory to remain undefeated all-time against the Hilltoppers (13-0-8).

The first 57 minutes of the match took place on a rainy Sept. 25th day, including the only goal of the match. During the fifth minute of play, junior Madison Marino scored her team leading fifth goal of the season. The only score in the match was assisted by senior Blake Allen, her first on the year.

Senior goalkeeper Jordan Pasalaqua logged both of her saves during the 12th and 39th minutes to keep the Hilltoppers off of the board.

Second half substitute, Louisa Follert tied for the game-high with five shots as she created several opportunities for the Falcons down the stretch. Follert is joined by junior Kalie Blaising with five shots taken. As a result of both Falcons, NDC outshot WLU 11-1 in the second half and 20-3 for the full 90 minutes. In addition, Notre Dame held a 6-1 advantage in the corner kick department.

In goal, Pasalaqua totaled the two aforementioned saves and racked up her conference leading sixth shutout of the season. The Madison, Ohio native is now responsible for 23 career clean sheets.

The Notre Dame College women's soccer team will be back in action on Sunday Oct. 16 for an 11 a.m. kickoff at Frostburg State University.
