AVON, Ohio — Notre Dame Baseball splits the final home doubleheader of the season against Alderson Broaddus with a walk-off win in the first game, and a 5-0 loss in the second.
The Falcons started off with an early lead in the bottom of the second inning against AB after Matt Richards drove in Mike Zeuli to strike first, and they scored their second run on a sacrifice fly to right-field by Aaron Miller.
In the top of the third inning Alderson Broaddus struck for three runs to take a 3-2 lead on a double followed by a wild pitch and passed ball, and a walk.
In the fifth inning, Nick Petrolla singled through the right side scoring Ben Ross to tie the game back up.
In the bottom of the seventh, Jake Fonderlin got on base, and with two outs Nick Petrolla moved him to third with a single to right field, and went to second base on the throw. With runners on second and third base, Mike Zeuli hit a single down the left field line which drove in the run to win in a walk-off.
Austin Mora tirew his eleventh complete game of the season, allowing three runs on six hits and six walks, but earned nine strikeouts.
The second game was a 5-0 loss. The Falcon offense combined for five hits. Hayden Parker earned his third loss of the year allowing three earned runs on seven hits and one walk. Patrick Burke and Cameron Kern each got one and 2.1 innings of relief work in. The staff earned three strikeouts as a whole in the last game.
Baseball heads to Alderson Broaddus to finish up the series and regular season on Sunday with a doubleheader.
