Baseball Scores 11 In Split with Gannon

AVON, OH — The Notre Dame College Falcons split their doubleheader with Gannon University today, taking the first game and dropping the second.

In the first game, the offense exploded for eleven runs on ten hits and three walks, scoring in every inning but the sixth.

Nick Petrolla went 3-4 at the plate with a double in the first game, driving in four runs and scoring two himself. Matt Richards went 2-3, and scored two runs while driving one run in. Michael Zeuli was perfect, going 2-2 with a walk and driving in one run and scoring two himself. The five innings they scored in the fourth inning was a season high, and fed momentum to Austin Mora and his defense behind him, allowing Gannon to score a single one in the redshirt junior's second win of the season.

Mora went the distance, earning six strikeouts and allowing zero walks in his 28 batters faced in seven innings of work.

The second game was a lefty pitching matchup featuring Falcon Brady Biglin and Bryan Sapp from Gannon. The first run of the game was scored in the top of the fifth inning. Biglin got 5.1 innings of work, allowing one earned run in the 5-0 loss, and earning five strikeouts and nine groundouts from a Golden Knights offense that was beginning to heat up.

The Falcons will play on Tuesday afternoon as they will host the Lake Erie College Storm at Crushers Stadium. First pitches are scheduled for 12 and 2 p.m.
