Box Score SOUTH EUCLID, OH— The Notre Dame College Falcons won the opening game of the 2021 against the Dragons of Tiffin University. The Dragons, ranked first in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference preseason poll, falls to 0-2 with the loss.
The matchup between the two teams was a high-scoring one, combining for 26 points of offense between the two teams. The Falcons went up 8-4 with a score by Kendal Johnson at the 13-minute mark, but the Dragons scored four straight goals to tie the game with 2:38 remaining in the first half. The Falcons weren't finished though, as Alicyn Loberg gave the Falcons the lead heading into intermission at the two-minute mark.
In the second half, Tiffin came out scoring back-to-back goals and taking the lead back with a score of 10-9. The Falcons then scored three straight goals with 6:14 left to go up 12-10, and although the Dragons would score two more in the contest, the Falcons were able to match them in the final five minutes of competition, pulling the win out with a final score of 14-12.
Amanda Paint was the leading scorer against the Dragons today with four goals on ten shots on goal. Charlotte Vari added three goals in five attempts on the goalkeeper as well.
Mackenzie Levine made six saves in her first win of the year in goal for the Falcons defense.
The Falcons women's lacrosse team heads to Indianapolis to take on UIndy on Sat. Mar. 12. The first draw of that game is set for 12 pm.
